With around 60 vineyards and wineries stretching across Long Island’s North Fork and down in the Hamptons, you can say Napa, who? (for now)! In this guide, find some of the best vineyards in Long Island, NY, that are perfect for a day trip from NYC and, of course, local Long Islanders!
Baiting Hollow Farm and Vineyard
Want to visit a vineyard without going all the way out on the North Fork? Baiting Hollow Farm and Vineyard is located just about 1.24 hrs from NYC! This was actually the first vineyard I’ve ever visited and they have a very chill and laid-back vibe.
They are a smaller vineyard but have a lively feel, horses, food, and usually live music on the weekends!
If you were looking for those typical pictures in the grapevine rows, they are roped off, so you can’t do that here.
Check Baiting Hollow Vineyard Facebook page for updates on hours!
Address: 2114 Sound Ave Baiting Hollow, NY 11933
Make a day out of it and visit Lewins Farm for U-Pick apples, pumpkins, and more goodies, depending on the season.
I would also suggest heading to their farm stand where they sell delicious roasted corn and have a shop that has tons of fresh produce.
I’ve personally gone apple picking and pumpkin picking with them, and wine after is the perfect treat!
For all U-Pick, you must call first to make sure the field can be picked.
Macari Vineyards
Macari Vineyards is a family-owned business that has been around since 1995. This Long Island vineyard has an elegant tasting room, lots of outdoor seating, delicious wine, and the best pizza truck that stays on the property!
If you plan on frolicking through the vineyards, you can do just that here! They actually have 2 locations, one in Mattituck and one in Cutchogue. I can personally only speak to their Mattituck location, which I really loved!
With wine, pizza, and stunning fields, it’s easy to see why they are one of the best vineyards on Long Island!
If you are looking for a more upscale vibe, you will love it here!
Additionally, if you plan your trip in June/July, you should check out Lavender by the Bay, which has beautiful lavender fields you can walk through. Learn more about the lavender farms here!

Wölffer Estate Vineyard
Heading to the Hamptons? Take a trip to Wölffer Estate Vineyard and enjoy the super trendy summer wine, Summer in a Bottle. This gorgeous vineyard offers a beautiful tasting room of both indoor and outdoor seating along with private tours of their vineyard.

Pugliese Vineyards
Pugliese Vineyards is another popular vineyard in Long Island. They have picnic tables and live music! Everything is outside, so the weather comes into play when visiting.
This vineyard has a more chill vibe and serves tastings in plastic cups. They also have a Koi fish pond that everyone always seems to be very fond of!

Duck Walk Vineyards
Founded in 1994, Duck Walk Vineyards is another one of the best vineyards to visit with two locations!

If you are looking for another slightly closer vineyard to NYC, Palmer Vineyards are located in Riverhead. They have been open since 1983 and family-owned.
Palmer’s serves small plates of food, pizza, and 8 different wines to taste, currently. This vineyard also usually has live music on the weekend!
They are a little more on the expensive side but are still a favorite among local Long Islanders.
Palmer Vineyards is also dog-friendly!

Del Vino Vineyards
Originally built on an apple orchard, Del Vino Vineyards has become one of the best vineyards to visit on Long Island. Located about 50 miles from midtown NYC, Del Vino is another great winery close to the city. They now have 11 acres that host an impressive tasting room, outdoor patio, and vineyards.
Wines to enjoy at Del Vino Vineyards include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Riesling, and more! Additionally, you can enjoy light bites and tapas, including pizza, cheese boards, charcuterie boards, and desserts. They even serve craft beer from Oyster Bay Brewing CO.
Croteaux Vineyards
If Rosé is your thing, then head over to the Croteaux Vineyards! They are the only vineyard in the USA to make only Rosé! Known for their cute boho vibes that were inspired by the South of France, enjoy relaxing in their tasting garden for still and sparkling rosé flights, glasses, and bottles. Additionally, they also offer light bites, including baguette & herbed cheese spread, lobster roll sliders, North Fork Potato Chips, and more.
Unlike many vineyards on Long Island, they are only open seasonally. The Vineyard is open from Spring through late Fall. During operating hours, it is first-come, first-serve, daily from 12 PM – 6 PM. During wet weather, they have 2 covered barns.
The beautiful property has 11 acres of vineyards and glasses of wine, averaging around $13-$16 USD. Bottles are around $35 – $40 USD. They are both pet- and child-friendly, and they are suitable for well-behaved pups and kids. You can find the tasting and food menu for Croteaux Vineyards here.
Paumanok Vineyards
Founded in 1983, this lovely 127-acre estate is family-owned by the Massouds’. Throughout their fields, they grow high-quality grapes consisting of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Chenin Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and Petit Verdot.
Every year, they have an annual barrel tasting and a large outdoor deck where you can enjoy the views while sipping wine. You can also enjoy an array of hot and cold food during your visit, including local oysters.
This is open year-round 7 days a week. They recommend making a reservation for seating (especially on the weekend) but do their best to accommodate walk-ins.
Castello di Borghese Vineyard
This is known as the first vineyard to grace Long Island’s soil. The first plants took root in 1973 by owners Alex and Louisa Hargrave. Eventually, in 1998, they sold their vineyard to the owners Ann Marie and Marco Borghese and their children.
They offer a laid-back tasting room where outside food and picnics are encouraged by the winery. They even offer private tours of the vineyard Tuesday-Sunday at 11:30, 1:30, or 3:30, hosted by Giovanni Borghese!
Lenz Winery
If you are looking for a winery that serves both food and wine, Lenz Winery, located in Peconic, is one of the best Long Island wineries. Purchased by Peter and Deborah Carroll in 1988, they are known to have some of the best varietal wines. They hand-harvest and sort with individual berry selection and fermented in small batches of Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and more.
Their flights range from $25 – $35, and they offer A La Carte cheese, charcuterie boards, sandwiches, and sweets. This Long Island winery has both indoor and outdoor seating, and they are dog-friendly!

Best Time To Visit
Long Island Vineyards are actually open all-year-round making it one of the best things to do on Long Island! The busiest season is by far the summer which is also when most events and live music will happen.
During the Spring and Fall will be when you can still enjoy nice weather with fewer crowds.
In the Winter, most tastings will be held inside and the vineyard vines will look bare, but that doesn’t make the wine taste any less delicious!
Other Things to do on Long Island North Fork
When visiting the North Fork, going vineyard hopping is most popular, but there are other things you might want to check out while in the area.
There are tons of farms in the area selling fresh produce and many times you can pick the farms yourself! Depending on the season you can go apple picking, pumpkin picking, explore corn mazes, or Christmas tree picking!
You can also check out the Tanger Outlet shops in Riverhead. In terms of outlet stores, they are the best on Long Island in my opinion with tons of brands to choose from!
